研究方向及興趣 | Our research interest is focused on host-microbe interaction for regulation of epithelial barrier function and tumorigenesis in the gastrointestinal tract. The intestinal epithelium acts as the first line of defense against commensal bacteria and microbial pathogens. Epithelial dysfunction and microbiota dysbiosis are involved in the pathogenesis of various gastrointestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and colorectal cancers. Specific microbial strains and bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) are involved in colorectal tumorigenesis (Figure 1 and 2). Gene modified animal models, intestinal epithelial cell lines, primary organoids and spheroid cultures, as well as molecular techniques of site-directed mutagenesis, gene silencing and knockout are utilized in our laboratory to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms of intestinal diseases.
